Red Maple - Acer rubrum

This was a once in a lifetime tree. The wood was already rich in color and variety when it arrived at the shop, but then we left it in a moist part of the yard for over a year. In that time, it had been colonized by mushrooms. These mushrooms left a unique pattern of black lines tracing through the wood. It was a fine balance between letting the mushrooms create beauty in the log before the log started to decay. These bowls are truly unique and one of a kind.
